What is BabyWish?
BabyWish is a free baby registry built for the way people actually shop: the stroller from one store, the nursery print from another, the tiny things from wherever they turn up. You create an account, add gifts from anywhere, and get one link to send. Guests open it, pick something and reserve it with a name and an email — no sign-up, no app, no password to reset. As soon as a gift is spoken for, everyone else sees it is taken, which is how families stop giving the same thing twice.
It costs nothing, and there is no premium tier waiting behind the useful features. BabyWish earns from affiliate links on some stores, so a purchase can pay us a commission without costing your guest a cent more. For the big-ticket gifts, several people can chip in: they pledge an amount, the progress bar fills, and the money moves directly between them and you — no processing, no fee, no waiting for a payout. Your registry stays out of Google and off any public directory, so the link you send is the only way in. Send it to the people you would invite, and remember it works for anyone they forward it to.

Is BabyWish really free?
Yes, all of it — every feature, with no paid plan hiding the good ones. It works because some store links earn BabyWish a commission from the retailer when a gift is bought, and that never adds a cent to your guest's total.
What is a universal baby registry?
One registry that holds gifts from every store instead of a single retailer's catalog. You paste links from wherever you shop, guests see one page, and each of them buys from the store the gift came from. It is the difference between building a registry around what you want and building it around where the registry happens to live.
Do guests need an account to reserve a gift?
Never. A name and an email are enough, plus a note for you if they feel like it. The confirmation email doubles as their own private link, so they can review or cancel their reservation without having to ask you.
Amazon and Target give me a welcome box and a completion discount. Why use BabyWish?
Because a store registry holds only that store's catalog, and your list rarely does. Keep the store registry for its perks if you qualify — those are the retailer's terms, not ours — and use BabyWish for everything: the Etsy mobile, the boutique crib, the Amazon stroller, on one link. The two do not sync, so check gifts off in both.
How does group gifting work?
Put the $400 stroller on the registry and six people can go in on it. Guests pledge what they want to give, the progress bar shows how close you are, and you collect from them directly — cash, Venmo, however your family already does it. Nothing passes through BabyWish, so nothing is taken out.
When should I create my baby registry?
Most parents build the registry before the baby shower and share it with the invitation, which in the US usually means somewhere in the late second trimester or early third. Earlier is fine: a registry you start at 20 weeks gives you months to add and remove things, and BabyWish lets you keep editing after you have shared the link — guests always see the current version, not the one you sent them.
How do I share my registry?
You get one private link. Text it, put it in the family group chat, email it, add it to the baby shower invitation, or share it on WhatsApp with relatives overseas. The link previews with your first name and a picture card, so people know what they are opening. You can also post it in a private group — just remember that anyone holding the link can see the registry.
Can guests look up my registry by name, the way they search a store registry?
They cannot, and that is on purpose. Store registries put you in a searchable directory; BabyWish gives you one private address that Google is told to skip. The trade-off is that you send the link yourself — and that whoever holds it can open it.
Can I use BabyWish outside the United States?
Yes. BabyWish does not sell or ship products. Guests buy from the linked store, whose shipping options, payment methods and restrictions apply. The interface is available in English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Romanian.
What happens to my registry after the baby is born?
Your registry stays yours after the baby is born. Reserved items keep showing who claimed them, which is what you want when you sit down to write thank-you notes. For the first birthday or a christening, start a separate registry with its own link, so those guests only see what that occasion needs. Nothing expires and nothing is deleted on a timer.
