Origin and meaning of Ziyad
Ziyad (زياد) shares the root z-y-d with Zayd, but in its intensive form describes someone who gives or receives in great abundance, an even stronger increase. Historically attested since early Islam, it was borne by figures such as Ziyad ibn Abihi, an Umayyad-era governor and statesman known for his administrative reforms in Iraq. Widely used today across the Levant, Iraq and the Gulf, it is chosen for its robust sound and the wish for prosperity and growth it carries from birth.
