Origin and meaning of Valentino
Valentino comes from the Latin Valentinus, from valens, 'strong, healthy, vigorous', from the verb valere. It therefore means 'valiant, full of health'. The name is inseparable from Saint Valentine, patron of lovers celebrated worldwide on 14 February. In Italy it is a beloved, lively name, also borne by the motorcycling champion Valentino Rossi. Widespread too in Spanish-speaking areas, it has popular variants such as the French and German Valentin and the Spanish Valentín.
