Origin and meaning of Teodolinda
Teodolinda is a name of Germanic origin, made of theud ('people') and linda, perhaps from lind ('gentle, tender' or 'lime-wood shield'): it is read as 'she who is gentle with her people' or 'beloved by the people'. It is tied to the Lombard queen Theodelinda, who between the sixth and seventh centuries fostered her people's conversion to Catholicism and is honoured in Monza. Today it is very rare and solemn, almost exclusively Italian, chosen for its historical resonance.
