Rossella is an Italian name linked to the adjective rosso, 'red,' and to the rose, with the sense of 'reddish' or 'red-haired'; it is also felt as a pet form of Rosa. It owes much of its popularity to the cinema: Rossella is the name under which Scarlett O'Hara, the heroine of Gone with the Wind, was rechristened in Italy.
