Origin and meaning of Rashid
Rashid (راشد) comes from the root r-sh-d, shared with 'rushd', maturity and sound judgment: it describes someone well-guided, wise and responsible, following the right path. It is one of the ninety-nine names of God in Islam, 'Ar-Rashid', the Rightly Guided, giving it particular religious weight. Historically linked to the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid, celebrated in the Thousand and One Nights, and in modern times to Dubai's rulers such as Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. A classic and respected name, it remains widespread across the Arab world.
