Origin and meaning of Oriana
Oriana probably comes from the Latin aurum, 'gold', with the sense 'golden, shining like gold'; some also link it to Old French. The name appears in the chivalric romance Amadis of Gaul, where Oriana is the hero's beloved princess. It thus evokes light, preciousness and nobility. Found mainly in Italy and, in rare form, in the Hispanic world, it is an elegant, luminous name with a soft, aristocratic sound.
