Origin and meaning of Mirella
Mirella comes from the Provençal Mirèio, made famous by Frédéric Mistral's poem of that name; at its root is the Latin verb mirari, 'to admire, to wonder at'. The name thus means 'wonderful, worthy of admiration'. Common in Italy and, as Mireille, in France, it flourished in the twentieth century. It keeps a sweet, melodious charm, with a sunny Provençal note that makes it warm, feminine and refined at once.
