Loredana is a name of Italian origin, drawn from the illustrious Venetian patrician surname Loredan, the house that gave Venice doges and statesmen. It spread above all through nineteenth-century literature, which lent it an elegant, romantic air. It thus means 'belonging to the Loredan family.' An almost exclusively Italian name, very fashionable between the 1950s and 1970s, warm and aristocratic in sound, it is less common today but still instantly recognisable.
