Origin and meaning of Livio
Livio comes from the Roman clan name Livius, of the ancient gens Livia, perhaps traceable to lividus, 'bluish, livid,' or an archaic colour root. It is above all the name of Livy, Rome's great historian, author of Ab Urbe Condita. Classical and understated, it is found almost only in Italy, where it keeps a learned, ancient aura; abroad it is nearly unknown, apart from the Romanian variant Liviu.
