Origin and meaning of Heloísa
Heloísa comes from the Old Germanic Helewidis or Hailawidu, combining elements linked to 'health, wholeness' and 'wide, vast', later reinterpreted as 'glory in battle' through the French evolution into Héloïse. The name became famous in the Middle Ages through the love story of Héloïse and the philosopher Abelard. In Brazil it's much loved today for its refined, literary sound, steadily rising in IBGE registrations.
