Origin and meaning of Gaia

Gaia comes from the Greek Gaîa, 'earth': in mythology she is the primordial goddess personifying the Earth, generative mother of all creation. The name holds a deep sense of nature, fertility and origin. In Italian it also echoes the adjective gaia, 'cheerful, serene', adding to its brightness. A modern name very common in Italy and rarer elsewhere, it is chosen for its sunny sound and its links to nature and life.
