Origin and meaning of Gaetana
Gaetana is the feminine form of Gaetano, from the Latin Caietanus, 'from Gaeta', the ancient town in Lazio whose name (Caieta) legend links to Aeneas's nurse. It therefore means 'coming from Gaeta'. A traditional and fairly rare name, it is almost exclusively Italian, often chosen out of devotion to Saint Cajetan. It has a full, old-world sound, rooted in the history and place-names of southern Italy.
