Origin and meaning of Freja
Freja is the Scandinavian form of Freya, from Old Norse Freyja, 'lady, noblewoman'. In Norse mythology Freyja is the goddess of love, beauty and fertility, among the most revered deities of the Viking pantheon. Today Freja is a hugely popular name in Denmark and Scandinavia, often near the top for baby girls, and increasingly liked in Germany too. Beyond Northern Europe it stays fairly rare.
