Evelina is an elaborated form of Eveline/Evelyn, of Germanic origin, from the name Avelina, perhaps associated with the Hebrew Eve, 'life'. It therefore means 'life, longed-for'. Sweet and graceful, the name was made famous by the novel Evelina by the English writer Fanny Burney.
