Origin and meaning of Ettore
Ettore comes from the Greek Héktōr, 'he who holds fast, defender', from échō 'I hold'. He is the noble Trojan prince of the Iliad, defender of his city and a symbol of courage, loyalty and family love, who fell in a duel against Achilles. Rare but prestigious, in Italy it recalls classical epic; Hector and Héctor make it common in the English and Hispanic worlds.
