Origin and meaning of Ayman
Ayman (أيمن) comes from the root y-m-n, shared with 'yamin' (right hand) and 'yumn' (good fortune, prosperity): in pre-Islamic Arab culture the right hand symbolized luck and blessing, opposite the inauspicious left. The name thus marks someone touched by good fortune. It dates back to the 7th century, borne among others by Ayman ibn Ubayd, a companion of the Prophet. Widespread across the modern Arab world, parents like its elegant sound and the wish for prosperity it carries.
