Origin and meaning of Anastasia
Anastasia comes from the Greek anástasis (ἀνάστασις), 'resurrection, awakening' — an early Christian name brimming with Easter hope. Much loved in the Orthodox world (Russia, Ukraine, Greece, the Balkans), it is today widespread and admired across much of Western Europe too for its melodic elegance. The pet form Nastya is common in Slavic countries, while the West knows offshoots like Stacy.
