Origin and meaning of Adamo
Adamo is the Italian form of Adam, from the Hebrew adam, 'man,' closely tied to adamah, 'earth': it thus means 'the man drawn from the earth.' In biblical tradition he is the first human being, the forefather of humankind. In Italy the name is fairly rare, while the forms Adam and Adán are very common in English-, Germanic-, Slavic- and Spanish-speaking countries, as well as the Arab world. Its ancient, solemn sound evokes the very origins of humanity.
