Origin and meaning of Rin

Rin is a Japanese name, mainly feminine but also unisex, often written with the character 凛 'dignified, imposing, austere' or 鈴 'little bell.' It thus blends the idea of composure and dignity with the crystalline sound of a small bell. Short and elegant, it is much loved in contemporary Japan for its refined simplicity.
