Herkunft und Bedeutung von Leonarda

Leonarda is the feminine of Leonardo, a name of Germanic origin combining a first element linked to leon, 'lion,' with hardu, 'strong, bold': hence 'strong and brave as a lion.' An old, solemn name, today very rare, it is almost exclusively Italian and Spanish. It keeps an energetic, proud tone, but is far less common than the masculine Leonardo, famous the world over.
