Léa is the French and German form of Lia, from the Hebrew Le'ah, traditionally read as 'weary, languid,' but also linked to the idea of a 'gazelle' or 'wild cow,' a symbol of grace. In the Bible Leah is Jacob's first wife and mother of six tribes of Israel. It is very popular in France, where it tops the charts, and widespread in Germany and Switzerland.
