Origine et signification de Yusuf

Yusuf is the Arabic form of Joseph, from the Hebrew Yosef, 'God will add'. In Islam Yusuf is a prophet to whom the Quran devotes an entire chapter, famed for his beauty and for his story of forgiveness towards his brothers. The name is extremely common throughout the Muslim world and in Turkey; its many variants such as Youssef, Yousef and Yousuf reflect the wealth of transcriptions and its wide circulation across the Arab, African and Turkish worlds.
