Origen y significado de Vito
Vito derives from the Latin Vitus, connected to vita, 'life': it means 'vital, full of life'. The name is tied to Saint Vitus, a much-venerated young Christian martyr, patron invoked against various illnesses and remembered in the folk tradition of Saint Vitus' dance. In Italy it is especially common in the South, above all in Apulia and Sicily, where it is deeply rooted. Abroad it survives in the forms Vitus and the German Veit, dear to the Central European tradition.
