Origen y significado de Mafalda

Mafalda is a medieval form of Matilde, from the Germanic Mahthild, from maht, 'strength, power,' and hild, 'battle': hence 'mighty in battle, strong fighter.' A regal, ancient name, it was borne by European princesses such as Mafalda of Savoy and by Blessed Mafalda of Portugal. Found in Italy, Spain and Portugal, it has a noble, old-world tone; other languages prefer the parallel forms Matilde, Mathilde and Matilda.
