Origen y significado de Lavinia
Lavinia is an ancient Roman name, tied to the city of Lavinium and borne, in Virgil's Aeneid, by the daughter of King Latinus who becomes Aeneas's wife, symbolic mother of the Roman people. It therefore means 'from Lavinium.' Elegant and classical, it is found mainly in Italy and enjoys some favour in English-speaking countries too. It was distinguished by the Bolognese painter Lavinia Fontana, among the first professional women artists.
