Origen y significado de Lamberto

Lamberto is the Italian form of the Germanic Landberht, from land, 'land, country,' and beraht, 'bright, illustrious': hence 'illustrious in his land, glory of the country.' Brought to Italy by the Lombards, it is linked to Saint Lambert of Maastricht, a bishop and martyr much venerated in the Low Countries. Today it is rare and old-flavoured, almost only Italian; elsewhere in Europe the form Lambert prevails.
