Origen y significado de Ciro
Ciro comes, through the Greek Kyros, from the Old Persian Kurush, borne by Cyrus the Great, founder of the Achaemenid Persian Empire; its meaning is uncertain, perhaps 'sun' or tied to the idea of sovereignty. In Italy the name is beloved above all in Naples and Campania, where it is among the most traditional, also through devotion to Saint Cyrus, a physician and martyr. It has counterparts in the English Cyrus and the Spanish Ciro, with an Eastern, regal charm.
