Kaito is a Japanese boys' name pairing the kanji 海 (kai, 'sea, ocean') with 斗 or 翔 (to, 'measure' or 'to soar'), conjuring someone who sails or rises above the ocean. It has become very popular among younger generations in Japan, helped by its energetic sound and adventurous, sea-bound imagery. Outside Japan it is rare and read as distinctly Japanese.
